B.Sc IN COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING

Message from Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering

Welcome to the Faculty of Science and Engineering, specially Department of Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at University of Skill Enrichment and Technology(USET). Whether you are a prospective or current student, a prospective faculty member, a parent, an alumnus, a government or industry representative, or just a curious onlooker, I encourage you to browse and find detailed information about our undergraduate programs, our faculty members, their research interests, and the broad range of activities underway in the Department.

University of Skill Enrichment and Technology (USET) is a University for 21st Century. It has been designed to create skilled workforce from technical and vocational education system developing a pathway to higher education for the workforce. The absolute aim is to train the large unemployed young population of the country to turn them into demographic dividend rather than burden. USET is a Digital University that will fulfill the target goals of vision 2021 and 2041 and participate in the 4th Industrial Revolution to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.  USET is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh. The USET has been given approval to run from a campus established at Signboard (Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road).

I believe, the department is the most forward-looking, vibrant and dynamic department at USET. Since its inception in 2019 with a handful of students and only one undergraduate program in Computer Science, the department has grown to be the largest department at USET with more than 5 full-time faculty members, 2 part-time (Lab) and visiting faculty members, approximately 20 undergraduate students for the first semester –Fall-2020.

The CSE Department is committed to provide an outstanding educational experience for its students and prepare them for the highest personal and professional growth. We believe in student-centered and skill-oriented education to train the future workforce and meet the challenges of existing and emerging technologies of the 21st century and fourth industrial revolution. Thus we focus on hiring outstanding faculty members from home and abroad, incorporate outcome based education system and build state-of-the-art teaching facilities and research laboratories. Very recently, the department received accreditation for all its undergraduate programs from the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE), Bangladesh. At present, the department is actively seeking accreditation from Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE), Bangladesh and the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), USA.

Our students are broadly encouraged to gain out-of-the-classroom academic and research experiences, produce engineering and scientific publications, and participate in various co-curricular activities. In order to foster these activities, the department maintains program-oriented and student-centric engineering forums.

The department is very proud of its outstanding faculty members, all of whom have MS and/or Ph.D. degrees primarily from the USA, Canada, UK, Japan, Germany and Australia. We believe our department is the top destination for faculty members who are willing to return to Bangladesh from abroad.

I would like to cordially invite all of you who are interested in expanding your knowledge and enriching your careers to explore USET –Engineering programs.
